Our origin

Built from Production. Built for Production.

Daily TimeCards was founded by DGA First Assistant Director Anthony “ACE” Cabral after years of seeing critical production information still being collected on paper, chased down at wrap, and passed from person to person before reaching the people who needed it.

He created Daily TimeCards to give productions a more efficient way to collect, organize, and share that information.

Where it started

The Half-Sheet Problem

At the end of a shooting day, departments do not all finish at the same time. Crew out-times have traditionally been collected on handwritten departmental half sheets. Production Assistants wait for departments to finish, get those sheets back to the Assistant Directors, and the information then moves on to the Production Office.

When a sheet is late, incomplete, difficult to read, or never makes it back, someone has to track the information down later.

That recurring problem led to a simple question: why not collect the information digitally, at the source, while it was still fresh?

The first step

From Workflow Fix to Daily TimeCards

The first solution was intentionally simple: a Google-based workflow using forms, spreadsheets, and automation to collect production information digitally. It was used on a real production as a proof of concept.

The original goal was narrow: collect the information needed for the production report without Production Assistants waiting for handwritten half sheets at wrap. The same principle quickly extended beyond out-times.

Daily TimeCards grew into a broader production workflow for Crew timecards, Daily Production Times, Crew Documents, amendments, reporting, and production records. It also gave Crew members a reliable record of submitted time information to reference when completing the production's official payroll process.

Production Reality

Built Around Production Reality

Daily TimeCards is organized around the way productions actually work: Work Dates, departments, Crew, Daily Production Times, amendments, reporting, and the project lifecycle from Prep through Full Wrap.

Those details matter because production information changes throughout the day. Departments finish at different times, records need review, and the AD team and Production Office need accurate information after the shooting day ends.

Daily TimeCards was designed around that reality from the beginning.

About the Founder

Anthony “ACE” Cabral

DGA First Assistant Director

Anthony “ACE” Cabral has more than 30 years of on-set experience across film and television, working on studio and independent productions.

As a First Assistant Director, he has spent years managing the daily flow of production and the information moving between Crew, departments, the AD team, and the Production Office. Daily TimeCards grew out of recurring problems in that workflow.

Cabral founded Daily TimeCards around those real production needs.

Daily TimeCards is operated by ACE Films.

A Note From Anthony

“I kept seeing good people waste time at wrap waiting for information we already knew we needed. Daily TimeCards started with a simple idea: collect that information digitally, get it to the people who need it, and stop making Production Assistants chase paper at the end of a long shooting day. What started with the production report grew from there.”
